Day 7 of the Project Life Catch-Up Challenge! Are you playing along?
Today I'm sharing week 41, which I have to say, was a pretty good week. There were hikes and fires and s'mores. What more could a girl ask for?
I used the Citrus Twist Kits "Little Things" Pocket Life Kit, and I can't get enough of these colors. Gorgeous!
I kept things pretty simple this week, just adding a few die cuts to each photo and keeping everything in the same color scheme. Simple but effective.
I had a bit of extra space this week, so I was able to create a little filler card using some of the elements from the kit. I really love how it turned out. It adds interest to the spread and ties all the colors together.
I. Love. Fall. I love fall colors and fall weather. I love sipping hot coffee and wearing warm sweaters. And I love fall colors. Which is why this has got to be one of my favorite layouts to date.
I used the The Little Things collection from The Reset Girl, which is a-freaking-dorable! So much fall-y goodness in this kit!
The kit is actually HUGE, so to help keep myself from getting too overwhelmed by it all, I stuck to a kind of recipe. I chose a label, a banner, and a circle for each photo and clustered them together. This adds a bit of continuity to the spread and keeps things from getting too busy.
For the other cards, I focused on keeping the colors balanced across the spread and repeating some elements, like the book paper and more circles.
I really love how it turned out. And the best thing about The Reset Girl kits is that they're digital, so I can print more next year. Woohoo!
I'm back today with week 39 in my 2018 Project Life album. You may have noticed that I've skipped weeks 37 & 38, and that's because we spent the majority of those two weeks traveling. Since I know I'll be making mini album of our trip, I didn't see any point in duplicating those pictures/stories in my Project Life album. Instead, I plan to print a full page photo to insert between weeks 36 & 39 and include a short note about what we did that week.
Now back to week 39. I chose a very tight color palette for this week, which seems to be something I do when I'm overwhelmed with the products in front of me. I tend to choose a card or embellishment that I know I want to use, then use the colors in that one piece to dictate the palette for the page. This time the colors were light blue and dark blue, and I added bits of yellow for contrast.
I cannot tell you how much I love the "week" stamp that came in our Citrus Twist Kits this month. It is a total lifesaver. I no longer have to worry about finding an alpha to match my spread, I can simply stamp the week's title in any ink from my stash. Perfect.
I loved being able to include a full itinerary of our busy weekend - even if I ended up too sick to enjoy most of it. I know I'll love looking back to this kind of detail.
We started the week still in Kentucky at my mom's. We had an amazing (and gluten free) breakfast, then saw a great view from the bridge while taking the long way home.
This may actually be one of my favorite spreads to date. I love the color scheme, and I used some of my favorite Citrus Twist Kits products ever.
Finally, I included some packaging from a tea infuser I bought this week. A cute little brew bunny - LOVE it!
It's time for Week 35! I didn't have a lot of photos from this week, so I took the opportunity to use some of the supplies I've been hoarding.
We took a short trip to Kentucky to visit my family, so that was the main focus of my journaling this week. I love that pink mug of my mom's and pretty much take a photo of it every time I'm there. :)
I'm also really loving this warm color scheme. That red and pink paper is my FAVE.
And while I managed to chop off the top of that enamel circle after I neglected to measure and didn't leave enough space for it above my journaling, it's not something I would recommend doing...at least not without some heavy-duty scissors.
Of course, that wasn't the only mistake I made in this spread. I had a real struggle with the bottom journal card too, but I managed to make it work.
Welcome back for day two of the Project Life Catch-Up Challenge! Today I'm sharing week 34 in my 2018 Project Life album.
For this week, I decided to use elements from the Fresh Start collection by The Reset Girl, specifically the Crafty Club Kit and Snippets. I love this collection, and I couldn't wait to use it!
I actually ended up printing everything three times. My printer was running out of ink, and instead of just changing all of the cartridges, I tried only changing one at a time. Basically, I was being cheap. ;) Eventually I just changed them all and finally got a true-color printing on my third try. But instead of throwing the others out, I decided to keep them and try to salvage what I could. A lot of the pieces didn't look too bad. It was kind of like they just printed in a different color way. Still, I wouldn't recommend trying this at home. :)
My pictures for this week were pretty bland, so I relied on the collection to bring some life and color to this spread. All of those fall colors were giving me all the feels!
Since I used grey ink in my stamping, I decided to handwrite my journaling this week using my grey Le Pen journaling pen. It's a little less harsh than the black of my typewriter, and I thought it worked well with the warm colors of this spread.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you may already know what the above graphic is all about. Basically, I'm feeling December Daily closing in on me, and I know I need to get caught up with my Project Life album before that happens. Anyone else relate?
So, to motivate myself to get this done, I've created a challenge, and I hope all of you who need to will play along. I'll be sharing one spread each day for the rest of the month of October. That's just enough days to get me current in my PL album up to November. You can find my spreads here on my blog, on my YouTube channel, and on my Instagram account.

Now on to the first day's spread...
Way back in Week 33 I had a lot going on. Well, maybe not a lot, but enough to fill a 9x12 page with pictures. ;)
Instead of pulling cards from my September kit (which was the current kit at the time I made this spread), I decided to dip back into my Citrus Twist stash and pull from several previous kits.
For embellishments, I used a mix of things from the September "Heartbreaker" Pocket Life Kit, the September Embellishment Kit, and the August "Perfectly Posh" Pocket Life Kit, as well as a few items from my stash, including the Stars Hollow stamp from Ink Road.
I stuck to a pretty defined color palette, which seems to be my M.O. these days. I'm not sure why I keep creating spreads with such limited colors, but it's working for me.
As always you can see my full process and hear more of my rambling by watching the video below.
When I saw this paper from Prinkfresh Studio's Simple & Sweet collection, I knew exactly the layout I wanted to use it on. All those lemons! I had to use it to document our favorite drink of the summer.
So I gathered all of the lemons I could find in my stash: some from the Simple & Sweet ephemera pack, stickers from Amy Tangerine, and little rubber lemons from Studio Calico.
Then I grabbed everything yellow: some bits and pieces from other Pinkfresh Studio collections, tiny word stickers and puffy alphas from Citrus Twist Kits, and an assortment of papers.
For the word "lemons" I used the Wonky puffy alpha from Bella Blvd and colored them to match the Citrus Twist alphas using a Bic Marking marker.
Then it was just a matter of layering it all together to get the cascading look I was after.
And adding the embellishments where space allowed.
I finished the whole thing off with a few splatters in yellow and gray.
