2020 Creativity Journal: Week 17

I'm back with another week in my Creativity Journal. This week I'm using the "Whimsical" collection by Paige Evans for Pink Paislee...and oldy-but-goodie, for sure.

I know this collection is a couple years old, but I still love it so much. And the all the crafty bits and pieces are absolutely perfect for this project.

I added a scrap of paper from another oldie-but-goodie collection as well, Crafty Girl from Simple Stories. I had been saving this little scrap of rainbow paper for far too long. It was time to use it up!

I had so much fun scattering all the adorable little stickers and icons all over the page. I was even able to use up most of the rubons I had left!

I also added the foam alphas from this collection, which I've basically been hoarding since I got them. I used them in three places around the spread to bring some continuity to the two pages.

I also created three clusters of florals around the page. Each one is a combination of stickers, chipboard, and puffy stickers. They have so much texture in person. I love how they turned out!

I was even able to use one of the frames, something I normally have trouble using on my layouts or pocket pages. But the adorable heart frame fit perfectly here!

I had so much fun creating this page! It just makes me happy when I see it, and that's kind of what this project is all about. :)

You can see how I put the whole thing together in the process video below.

I'm glad you stopped by today, and I hope to see you back here soon. Until then, happy crafting!

2020 Project Life: Week 17

Hey everyone, I'm back with another page in my 202 Project Life album. I used the same stash kit for this week's spread, and once again, I kept it super simple.

I used a lot of grey and black in this week's page. I really like how it stands out and works with the black and white photos I've chosen.

Of course there are pops of color as well. I chose the colors from the rainbow card (from a Brandi Kincaid kit for Feed Your Craft that's no longer available).

I spread the pinks and yellows around the page amongst all the grey and black, and I really love how it looks.

The only outlier was the "Currently Obsessed" card (which is from an old A Beautiful Mess kit). It's sort of a purple-grey color, and even though there's no other instance of that color on this page, it somehow works with the other greys I've used.

I also really love how the Feed Your Craft puffy alphas look on my photos. I need to remember to pull these out of my stash more often.

I kept my journaling mostly to this numbered journaling card, also designed by Brandi Kincaid for Feed Your Craft. I love using numbered journaling to get several stories told in a small amount of space.

You can see all the details of how this page came together in the process video below.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time, happy crafting!

12x12 Layout: Let's Go for Color Cast Designs

It's time for the newest release at Color Cast Designs!! This month's pieces are absolutely amazing! The colors are gorgeous, and this font it to die for. The ones pictured above are just a few of what's being release today, so be sure to stop by the shop and check them out. :)

For my first project, I decided to use the "Let's Go" title piece to document a trip Jesse and I took to Michigan last year for the 4th of July. I paired it with some items from the Let's Travel collection by Carta Bella. The colors worked perfectly together!

I also added some mixed media to my background using a few Magical Powders from Lindy's Stamp Gang. I love the effect of the soft and bright pinks together and how it helped tie in both the warm and cool tones on this spread.

I used a couple of papers from the collection to mat my photo, then added embellishments from the ephemera packs and sticker sheet. I even fussy cut a pair of sunglasses from one of the papers to use in my embellishment cluster.

I also added a bit of stamping using a couple stamps from Illustrated Faith to give the background more texture. Not all of the stamping turned out like I had hoped, but I managed to fix it in the end.

You can see all of the details of my process (including the stamping gone wrong and how I fixed it) in the video below.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to see you all back here soon. Until then, happy crafting!

2020 Creativity Journal: Week 16

Hey everyone! Today I'm sharing another page in my 2020 Creativity Journal. For this spread, I'm using the "Journeys" Life Crafted Kit from Citrus Twist Kits, as well as a few of the extras from this month.

I'm having some technical difficulties with my computer at the moment (ugh), and I wasn't able to print the cards from this kit to fit my memory planner pages, so I had to make the kit work as-is.

Luckily there were lots of bits and pieces that worked just fine for my very loose interpretation of this grid. I especially loved the flowers in this kit. So pretty! I knew I had to use the two I had left on this page.

I'm also super happy I was able to use this frame. It was the perfect size for my photos!

Instead of doodling this week, I decided to add lots of stamping using the "Daytripping" stamp set from Citrus Twist. I love those arrows, and I knew they would be the perfect way of drawing your attention to the photos on this spread.

I also incorporated some of the digitals from this month, including the National Scrapbook Day printable and the Digital Tags. I love using all of the various bits and pieces from these kits together!

Even though I wasn't able to resize them, I was still able to use the journaling cards on my spread. Luckily I didn't have too many photos this week, so there was plenty of room for the 3x4 cards. The "Staying Busy" card was perfect for telling the story of my new filming routine.

I left lots of white space on this spread. As much as I love the look of  a completely filled-in grid, I also really like the look of leaving some places for your eye to rest. This week had lots of resting spots.

I repeated the alphas from the kit in three places across the spread for some continuity and to help me use up more of them. I always find it harder to use them once the "E's" are gone, so this was one way to get them used.

If you want to see how this page came together in more detail, you can view the process video below.

2020 Project Life: Week 16

Hello friends! I'm back with another week in my 2020 Project Life Album! For this week's page, I decided to use some items from my stash.

I dug through my boxes of Project Life cards in search of any that might be good for documenting life in quarantine, and ended up finding way more than I expected. In fact, to narrow my choices even further, I decided to limit the color scheme of the cards I chose.

Then I went through my bin of embellishments and found a few items that worked with the colors I'd chosen. I also grabbed a couple of puffy alphas and stamps, and then I was ready to get to work!

I kept this page pretty simple, sticking to some basic embellishments and handwritten journaling. I find that when I'm behind in documenting, simple is always the best way to get things done.

This was the week of Jesse's birthday, so there were lots of photos to choose from. I ended up printing several more from this week that I hope to use in some upcoming projects.

As usual, I repeated a lot of the same designs in my embellishing. Again, I find this is a great way to get a page done quickly. The fewer decisions I have to make, the better.

I love that I was able to use my stash for this spread. AND I have plenty of supplies leftover to make more pages with this kit! If you want more information about how to put together a kit from your stash, be sure to check out my class at Big Picture Classes

And you can see all of the details of this process in the video below.
